I am very grateful to have been invited to such a representative conference that has assembled politicians, military experts, entrepreneurs and journalists from more than 40 countries.

The format of the conference allows me to avoid excessive politeness and the need to speak in rounded, pleasant but empty diplomatic terms. This conference allows me to say what I really think about international security problems.

What is a unipolar world? However one might embellish this term, at the end of the day it refers to a world in which there is one master, one sovereign. And in the end this is pernicious not only for all those within this system, but also for the sovereign itself because it destroys itself from within.

We are seeing a greater and greater disdain for the basic principles of international law. One state and, of course, first and foremost the United States, has overstepped its national borders in every way.

I think it is obvious that NATO expansion does not have any relation to the modernization of the Alliance itself or to ensuring security in Europe. On the contrary, it represents a serious provocation that reduces the level of mutual trust.
