Address to the Occupied Netherlands (Radio Oranje)

My beloved countryman: From London, where I have established the seat of government to preserve our national sovereignty, I speak to you directly across the waves of Radio Oranje.

Although our fatherland is temporarily under the heel of a brutal invader, our spirit remains unbroken. The enemy may occupy our soil, but he can never conquer the heart of the Dutch nation.

I know the hardships you endure daily: the loss of freedom, the tyranny, the threat to our institutions. But I ask you to keep your courage high. Do not lose faith in the ultimate victory of our righteous cause.

With God’s help, and alongside our allies who fight for freedom, the day will come when the oppressor is driven out. The Netherlands will rise again, free and proud.
