Sons and daughters of South Africa! Look at yourselves! Black and white together! We have come through the dark night of apartheid into the bright sunshine of democracy!
They tried to tell us that we could not live together. They built walls of racial separation, enforced pass laws, and imprisoned our leaders. But truth, justice, and human dignity cannot be locked in a cell forever!
Today we say to the whole world: We are the Rainbow People of God!
Goodness is stronger than evil; love is stronger than hate; light is stronger than darkness; life is stronger than death. Victory is ours through Him who loved us.
Let us walk hand in hand into this new land. Let us build a nation where every child—whether born in a township or a suburb—knows that they are cherished, equal, and free.
