I coined my own definition of success in 1934 when I was teaching at a high school in South Bend, Indiana, and I was a little disillusioned with the way parents expected their kids to get an A or a B.
Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.
If you make the effort to do the best you can to make the possibilities that you have the best, you’ll be a success. You don’t have to account to anybody for that except yourself.
Never try to be better than someone else. Always learn from others. Never cease trying to be the best you can be—that’s under your control. The other isn’t.
