To those waiting with bated breath for that favorite media device, the U-turn, I have only one thing to say: U-turn if you want to. The lady’s not for turning!
I say that not only because of the firm resolve I have built up over a lifetime in politics, but because our strategy is sound and working.
If we were to abandon our anti-inflation policy now, all the sacrifices made so far would be wasted. We would be back in the familiar cycle of high spending, high inflation, and eventual economic collapse.
We are rebuilding the strength of Britain on firm foundations. We shall not falter.
